Happiness Has No Concern With Expectations

Why did that person let me down, even though when i gave my best?

How can someone not bother about me, despite of me accomplishing my every responsibility for them?

Why don’t people acknowlwdge my hard work?

Yes, these are the kind of questions and confusions that might have invaded your brain at some point or the other. I define them as Expectations.

But have you ever thoroughly studied the correlation between expectations and happiness? If you didn’t, then let me inform you that majority of self-invented expectations lead to disappointments, break-downs or sorrows. It is very important to understand this phenomenon, to alert you for not doing so, ever after reading this post.

Relying upon people’s actions or opinions, in order to fetch happiness for yourself, is a huge misconception. But why not to expect? Because:

  • The thought process, of you and the person you might be expecting from, is likely to be different.
  • The two different personalities may show different responses towards the same situation.
  • The person in front of you might not be holding himself accountable for your contentment.
  • Carelessness, forgetfulness, busy or hectic schedules, differences in priorities and so on are the few other reasons which may contribute to the resistance of an individual to fulfill your expectations, which can directly or indirectly ruin your happiness.

To conclude, subtract the projections you formulate for people, situations or materials, thus laying the foundation of a delighted life.
